Volunteer Testimonials

97% of our volunteers feel that their support benefits our partner projects

Here at African Adventures, we are very proud of the relationships we share with our volunteers. They are central to our work and we are fully aware of this, which is why we support our volunteers through their journey and are always on hand when help is needed. It is very important to us that volunteers not only have an amazing experience but a rewarding one too; we want them to feel like they have really made a difference and done something worthwhile but we also want them to have a great time. We work very hard to deliver this so we are delighted when we hear that we have succeeded! Here is just a small selection of the feedback that we have received from some of our incredible volunteers – we are very humbled by their lovely words…

“Kenya, it’s been amazing! It’s been one of the craziest, hardest, but the most incredible experience! We’ve been so lucky to meet so many amazing people along the way, making it an experience I will never ever forget!”

“In Ghana I made so many memories I will never ever forget and the trip changed and inspired me so much!

Overall, my trip with African Adventures to Ghana has been the best and favourite opportunity of my life! I will never forget it and hope to attend another African Adventures trip shortly! Thank you for the experience!”

Yvonne Watkins

Group Leader, Bourne Community College
“What a wonderful team you are! Everyone I have met from AA has been 100% fantastic, friendly, helpful, kind and genuinely the most helpful and charismatic people. The work you are supporting and fulfilling is both life changing for the children and adults based in Africa and for the volunteers who are fortunate enough to travel out there.

I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is contemplating this sort of experience. The guides, resources and material they provide you with is invaluable when planning your adventure, the staff and representatives are brilliant and helpful and the general support they offer has been phenomenal. From someone who has never really volunteered at this level before I will certainly be in contact again to arrange another trip ASAP and that is due to African Adventures! Thanks again for all the outstanding work you are doing!”

Sophie Branch

Student volunteer, Ely College
“African Adventures provided a carefully tailored package which was flexible, amendable, economical, interactive and ideally suited to help every participant meet their group and individual objectives. On previous trips with other providers, activities were pre-packaged and were never personalised to meet the specific needs of the participating schools. Fortunately I discovered African Adventures!”

Andrew Scott

Group Leader, Burnt Mill Academy
“Working with African Adventures and the Love For All school was incredible. It showed extreme insight into the lives in which people around the world live and actually meeting and working with the children in Kenya was extremely special and rewarding. I have learnt so much from my volunteering experience with African Adventures and my outlook on every day to day challenges and experiences will be significantly changed because of this trip.

I am eternally grateful to African Adventures for everything they have done for me and everything they are doing for the people who need it most. Thank you.”

Harry Dovey

Student volunteer, Harrow School
“All of the students want to return and I am sure many will. However, the benefit is longer term – all of them have started to understand what they can do rather than what they can’t. They have started to believe in themselves and understand how much richer life can be if you give yourself. I truly believe that this experience will be the making of many of the team.”

Mark Sirot-Smith

Group Leader, Ely College
“Everyone that comes on the trip gains invaluable life skills; how to adapt to different cultures, how to approach difficult situations and how to respect different people and ways of life. It’s hard work but it’s an experience that every student should have.”

Emily White

Student volunteer, Amery Hill School
“The students really feel that they have contributed to the schools they worked in. They have taken away memories that will last forever and they have a whole new perspective on the world!”

Penny Boyd

Group Leader, Hartlepool Sixth Form College
“Go. It’s a really well-organised trip that will change your life, the lives of the students who go with you and the lives of 1000’s of people in country. My eyes have been opened and I am truly grateful for the experience from fundraising to fruition.”

Jan Graves

Group Leader, Ashcroft Academy
“Wow! I barely even know where to begin. I have just returned from a visit to Woe in Ghana with a group of 21 explorer scouts and 6 leaders. We had a totally amazing time. The support staff were fantastic and the experience was so much more than any of us could have ever expected. I will never forget how incredibly lucky I am and honoured to have been part of such an amazing adventure, watching the explorers grow in experience and maturity and being a part of such an awesome community. Can’t wait to do it all again.”

“I have always wanted to do community work in Africa and African Adventures made it really easy for me. Coming to Ghana was a great life experience that I will never forget, so much more than I expected. The community work was well organised and I feel I have made a real difference to the children I have left behind.”

Amy Davidson

Student volunteer, Hartlepool Sixth Form College
“Never before has a trip been so much of an eye-opener for me. Through the experiences, coordinated by African Adventures in the Love For All school, I have truly learnt how lucky I am and that I should value everything that I am lucky enough to possess. I found that I made such a strong bond with some of the children in such a short period, and that I will treasure. This incredible life experience is thanks to African Adventures and the great work they are doing. Thank you.”

Freddie Wilkins

Student volunteer, Harrow School
“I feel so blessed to be able to have spent my time in Kenya with such awe inspiring and happy children. It has been eye opening and very emotional at times but what an amazing experience and every volunteer on the trip has helped make this trip one I will never forget. I’ve had fun, learned a lot about myself and made friendships that will last a lifetime.”
