With the evenings getting lighter and warmer weather on the way, now is a great time to start planning your spring and summer fundraising activities. Check out some of our favourite fundraising ideas below to help you reach your target.
Turn your passion into donations
Isabelle, a volunteer travelling to Zanzibar this year, based her fundraising around her love for art and used her creative skills to paint A4 artwork and birthday cards. With the help of her parents, she set up a table outside her house, where she sold her artwork to friends, family, and neighbours. From her Art Open House event, she raised £860!
Summer fete
Over the summer, towns and schools hold their annual fete. Why not secure yourself a stand and raise a bit of extra money? Here are some simple but yet effective ideas for your stall:
Face painting
If you or a friend is particularly artistic, why not offer face painting? Guaranteed to be a hit with children, this is an easy way to raise money.
Welly toss
All you need for this are some old wellies and a space to throw them! Charge 50p per throw. The person who has thrown their welly the furthest at the end of the day wins a prize.
Penalty shoot-out
For this, you will need a goal, a goalkeeper and some footballs. Charge a small amount for customers to have three attempts at scoring a penalty. If they score on all three shots, they win a small prize.
Raffle
“I asked local businesses to donate different prizes, which ranged from body washes to bottles of drink and sweets. We put raffle tickets on the prizes, and every 5 or 0 was a winner. I set up a table with the prizes in number order and put the winning tickets and spare ones in a bucket, and sold three tickets for £1.” Sophie, volunteer.
Dog walking
Make the most of the lighter evenings by getting outside and walking your friends and family’s dogs for a small fee. You could also raise some extra money by selling homemade dog biscuits to them.
Why not extend your dog walking business and hold a dog show for the dogs that you walk? You could hold an assault course for the dogs, have a best in show or most playful pup. Charge people to enter and set a prize for the different awards available. You could combine with selling food and drinks, or even your homemade dog biscuits to maximise your profits.
Sell your unwanted items
It’s time for a spring clean! So gather your unwanted items, head to your local car boot sale, and raise money for your trip.
If you have nothing to sell, you could go to a car boot sale and pick up some bargains to resale online.
