My role as a designer at African Adventures is based within the communications team and I am responsible for the majority of the visual content that we produce; everything from email templates and web content, to brochures, presentations and videos.
I joined the team in March 2015 and it’s been non-stop since then. I knew immediately that the company would be different to any previous employers I’d had – as a social enterprise it has a self-awareness and a ethical, responsible approach to everything it does. The work we do here means you’re part of a very passionate and hard-working team; no one ever seems short of motivation.
In 2017 I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Kenya, with the winners of our School Geography Challenge, and meet our Kenya Team including Fred, Leah and Alex. Visiting the projects and seeing the impact that African Adventures’ volunteers, and African Adventure Foundation, make to the children and their communities gave me a much better insight to both what we do, and why we do it. I look forward to doing this for many years to come.
Before working at African Adventures, I studied graphic design in Bournemouth and, after graduating, I worked freelance as well as holding design roles in a variety of organisations from telecommunications companies to state schools. In my spare time I letter comic books!
