As a Senior Groups Manager at African Adventures, my role is to ensure that all groups are fully supported through their experience, from initially deciding to travel, through to their volunteer experience in Africa.
I work closely with group leaders to help them decide on the volunteer programme appropriate for their group, and also with our Groups Managers, Steph and Monika, to make sure that our programmes run smoothly. Our priority is ensuring all volunteers are prepared and excited ahead of their trip to Africa.
I love working for an organisation where the work I do contributes to the development and growth of the projects we work with in Africa, and ultimately to improving the lives of the children and adults involved in these projects. Not only this, but having volunteered in Uganda and Kenya myself at 18, I know that there is so much to be gained from volunteering and it is an experience that stays with you for a long time, hopefully influencing the way in which we live our lives and the choices we make on a daily basis – it led me to my current role with African Adventures!
Before working for African Adventures, I studied International Development and Geography at university, and have since worked as a geography teacher. I cannot recommend highly enough the experience of volunteering and believe that anyone who can do so, should snap up the opportunity.
Outside of work I love being outdoors, whether it’s playing tennis with friends, skiing or snowboarding in winter or throwing a tent in the car and heading to Cornwall surfing. As a bit of a geography geek, I also have a real passion for travelling; exploring different countries, meeting new people and learning about other cultures.
