As we round up the year and take a short break for festivities with family and friends, we would like to wish everyone a very ‘Happy Christmas!’. Our partner projects will be celebrating with Christmas parties, where all children will be provided with a nutritious meal. Thank you to our supporters for your kind donations towards this year’s Christmas Meal Appeal.
We have had an incredible year at African Adventures and we have made some fantastic progress across our partner projects. We provided our projects with 23,000 hours of volunteering where volunteers participated in teaching assistance and building assistance roles. With many of the projects being overcrowded and under-resourced, the teachers often require additional support for the children which our volunteers can provide. Furthermore, our volunteers helped with the construction and renovation of 48 classrooms, as well as other school facilities including toilet blocks, kitchens and perimeter walls to give the schools more security. Improving the health and sanitation at the schools is one of our priorities and we are pleased that this year we have been able to install clean, piped water at a further project, giving 300 more students access to running water at school.
In addition, as a company, we continue to work hard towards being the leading responsible and ethical volunteer travel provider and are proud to highlight that being awarded ‘Silver’ for ‘Best Volunteering Organisation’ at the British Youth Travel Awards and ‘Runner Up’ for ‘Outstanding Volunteer Project’ at the Global Youth Travel Awards this year has been another great achievement for us.
Thank you to all our awesome volunteers for your hard work, dedication and support. We hope you have a lovely Christmas and we shall see you in the New Year!
