Christmas Meal Appeal 2016
Each year, African Adventures Foundation holds a Christmas Meal Appeal which aims to raise enough funds to cover the costs of school Christmas parties for some of the most underprivileged children living in Africa. Just £1 is enough to fund four Christmas lunches and a party and, this year, our appeal raised an astonishing £2,962.00!
Our partner projects in Kenya finished their schooling year in line with the government curriculum programme at the end of October 2016. With the schools finishing much earlier, some schools decided to give away Christmas food parcels for the children to take home – which we thought was a great idea!
At The Walk Centre, Mama Kerry project and Hadassah project, more than 200 families received food parcels which consisted of 2kg of wheat flour, 1kg of sugar and cooking fat, 1kg of green grams (Mung beans) and 2kg of maize flour. These ingredients are enough for a family of four to make chapatis and ugali served with green gram stew for up to three days. These basic ingredients can also be mixed with potatoes and any other ingredients families might have to hand to create different variations.

Abbey Gates Primary School
A special thank you to Abbey Gates Primary School in Nottingham who took part in a Fun Run which raised £100 for the Christmas Meal Appeal.
Nottingham Trent University
Nottingham Trent University trainee teachers and alumni volunteers, Nicola Ubhi, Lydia Pieczka, Heather Warren and Evie Baxter raised £150 for the Christmas Meal Appeal through a Night at the Dogs fundraiser.

Yellow Dot Nursery in Hedge End who ran a collection pot and raised £50!
