Roll on down to Eastleigh’s Christmas Market on Saturday 21st November
This Saturday 21st November you will find us at the Christmas Market on Eastleigh’s High Street at the Christmas Lights Switch On & Fun Day from 11am until 4pm, raising funds for the African Adventures Foundation’s Christmas Meal Appeal. With the festive spirit well and truly in the air, this is the perfect opportunity to get into the swing of your Christmas shopping and pick up those special little gifts for your loved ones.
We will be selling a variety of African crafts along with baked festive goods so don’t be shy to come and say hi and find out what we are all about! We look forward to seeing you there.
A little reminder about our Christmas Meal Appeal
Last year the Foundation raised £3,000 for our partner projects in Ghana and Kenya and this year we are aiming for an ambitious £5,000 to help support 20,000 children across 16 community projects in Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.
Having launched this year’s Appeal at the start of November, we have surpassed the first £1,000 milestone and to date have raised £1,273 thanks to generous supporters. Though this is only the beginning and we still have a long way to go!
To show how every small amount will help to make a huge difference, here are a few of the facts:
- Just £1 can provide meals for four children
- £5 can provide meals for twenty children
- £10 can provide meals for an entire class
- £50 can provide meals and drinks for up to four classes
The children in the communities in which we work will not be having a Christmas as we know it but the least we can do is give them a little something to remember. So, with every bit of help from our supporters we are aiming to make the end of the calendar year as special as we can afford, by funding Christmas dinners – usually consisting of meat, vegetables and rice and fruit to finish – to celebrate.
The African Adventures Foundation is led by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) with the directive that every child has the right to the best possible health and education, no matter where they are and what their situation is. This Christmas, we are aiming to ensure that these rights are extended to every single child at our partner projects.
Our 2015 Christmas Meal Appeal is our most ambitious and hopefully most wide-reaching campaign to date so please help us spread the Christmas cheer! Find out more on our Christmas Meal Appeal page and donate today through our Virgin Money Giving page. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and to future donors, we are most grateful for your kind generosity. We look forward to sharing the campaign with you as it unfolds and showing you the children enjoying their parties at their end of term school parties in weeks to come.
We would also like to let you know (and remind you) if you don’t know about it already that if you are shopping online (and now some high street stores) you can raise free money for great causes through EasyFundraising. It is really as simple as the name says so why not sign up today and make the African Adventures Foundation your ’cause’ this Christmas and whenever you shop online in future. Everything you purchase online, the retailer will contribute a small percentage to the African Adventures Foundation so it is a fantastic, easy way to fundraise! The pennies soon add up.
Thank you once again and have a wonderful weekend!
