We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2016 British Youth Travel Awards, directed by the British Youth Travel Association (BETA), which are to take place in a ceremony on 5th December in London.
The award categories acknowledge outstanding performers in the growing youth and educational travel industry. African Adventures has been selected for Best Volunteering Organisation which focuses on those organisations in volunteer travel that can demonstrate social, economic and environmental benefits to the local communities in which they work and the volunteers involved.
Having been named runner-up in the Global Youth Travel Awards at the World Youth and Student Travel Conference in September, we are ever eager to achieve that elusive winner title!
We would like to thank our volunteers for your contribution in making this happen, and celebrate the fact that we have now run trips for almost 4,000 volunteers to provide support at their partner community projects in Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar. Thank you for making our work possible and allowing us to positively impact the lives of the 20,000 children that attend the projects.
Emma English, BETA’s Executive Director said “I am extremely impressed with the volume and standard of this year’s entrants. It’s a true testament to the quality of our industry and the organisations that operate within it. The judges had a tough time this year as scoring was very close – in some cases finalists were separated by just 1 point! Thank you to all that entered this year’s competition.”
We very much look forward to the Awards ceremony and we wish everyone involved good luck!
