There is just one month until African Adventures Foundation’s annual fundraising dinner on Saturday 23rd April, where we aim to raise an incredible £12,000 to support educational projects in Africa.
The fundraising dinner raised an amazing £10,000 in its first year and the hope is that it will do even better this year.
The Foundation is the charity arm of African Adventures, which organises life-changing trips for people from around the UK to volunteer at educational projects in Africa; projects which have been set up to give children access to a free education. The Foundation has raised an incredible £150,000 since its inception in November 2013, which has greatly contributed to the provision of a quality education and nutritious food for 20,000 children in Africa.
A number of supporters are travelling from far and wide for the event, including 20 keen travellers from Derby, and a handful of previous volunteers from Celtic! Anyone is invited to this exciting evening of entertainment, to be held in the Mike Channon Suite at St Mary’s stadium, Southampton. The evening will include a three-course meal, dancing and drumming, and a raffle and auction with some fantastic prizes.
100% of funds raised at the fundraising dinner will be donated to African Adventures’ partner projects. The funds will be used to improve conditions at the schools and a portion of the funds will be used to assist with the build of a brand new primary school in Nakuru, Kenya. Last year’s event paid for a new birthing bed and mosquito windows at a birthing clinic in Ghana, a new toilet block with septic tank at one of the projects in Kenya and five new classrooms in Kenya and Zanzibar.
Ticket sales are going well and there are only around 50 tickets remaining for the event.
